Summer is almost upon us!

While all this focus in the media has been about making food in the schools healthier, taking out vending machines, etc-did you know that studies show that the majority of kids gain the most weight in the summer? This summer, let's try and reverse that trend. How to keep kids from playing playstation and watching tv all day? Try coming up with a new sport as a hobby that the family can do together, or the child can practice alone in the yard.

For example, buy some inexpensive lacrosse sticks ($10.00 for two) and practice throwing, catching, running together. Make a makeshift goal between two trees. Kids love to play this fun and challenging game-even if they've never even seen lacrosse before.
