Dallas Children's Theater play "don't you luv me?"

If you have a daughter 13 and over, I highly recommend taking her to see the new Dallas Children's Theater play, "don't u love me?"

"Angela has a new boyfriend. C.J.'s romantic. He sends her flowers. He texts her day and night. But C.J. has his own struggles. Soon his devotion feels like control and the relationship spirals dangerously downward."

This powerful world premiere by award-winning playwright Linda Daugherty, author of The Secret Life of Girls and EAT (It's Not About Food), explores the hidden world of aggression and violence in teen dating while encouraging young people to make choices that result in healthy relationships."

I know we would all like to think that our daughters are in healthy relationships, but look at some of these statistics:

75% of teens in Texas report having experienced dating violence or knowing someone who has.

81% of parents surveyed either believe teen dating violence is not an issue or admit that they don't know if it's an issue.

1 in 5 high school girls is physically or sexually hurt by a dating partner.

More that 50% say they have compromised their own beliefs to please a partner.
